United State of Pop (Blame it on the Pop)

The United State of Pop (Blame it on the Pop), is a mashup of the top 25 songs of 2009 put together by DJ Earworm. Taking songs from artists I wouldn't usually listen to (i.e. Pitbull, Soulja Boy, Miley Cyrus), and putting them together with artists that I like, he created one weird Frankenstein track backed heavily by I Gotta Feeling, that is a really fun listen.
You can listen to it (along with the two from '08 and '07, though they aren't nearly as good),
here. And if you want to read the lyrics, they are color-coded ransom note-style to the songs they come from.
But wait, there's more! If you call today, you can get
The United State of Pop (Blame it on the Pop) for only fifteen easy payments of $29.99! Or you can just download it free from his website. :)

Happy listenings!

DN Theme

What is the purpose of background music in a film? To help tell the story, of course. And the best soundtracks (with a few exceptions) disappear. They are still there, and somewhere in the back of your mind you hear it, but you are too engrossed in the story to think 'oh, there is some good background music'. The music brings the story to life without letting you know it is there.
The funny thing about music that good is that you don't realize the fact until you hear it apart from the film. I love it when I can listen to a song that I have never heard standalone, and say 'That is when so-and-so was fighting the bad guy!', because the song isn't just music to me, it is the actual story in a different form.
The main theme from Death Note is like that to me. Perhaps you have to watch the whole show to fully understand, but like all music of it's kind, it is pretty awesome on its own.

Enjoy!
